Last week, silicon raw materials added another 5 percent to 122.6 yuan per kilogram! The prices of silicon raw materials are still on the uptrend this week and the dataset statistics are as follows.
Domestic monocrystalline compound materials range from 125 to 130 yuan per kilogram and the average transaction price is 127.3 yuan per kilogram, which climbed 3.83% higher from the previous month. Besides, monocrystalline dense materials range in 122-127 yuan per kilogram and the average transaction price is 124.3 yuan per kilogram, up 4.10% from the prior month. Furthermore, the price range of monocrystalline cauliflower was 120-124 yuan per kilogram and the average transaction price of them was 120.7 yuan/kg, which was 3.25% higher than the previous month. The price range of polycrystalline material was 61-78 yuan per kilogram and the average transaction price was 66.2 yuan per kilogram, which rose by 4.58% compared with last month.
Since 2021, silicon raw materials has risen seven times in a row! At the beginning of the year, the average transaction price of domestic monocrystalline compound material and monocrystalline dense material was 87.6 yuan per kilogram and 85 yuan per kilogram respectively. Compared with the price of this week, they are up about 40 yuan per kilogram respectively, and the silicon raw materials increased by more than 40%, which still shows a continuous rising trend.
According to industry experience, if the price of silicon raw materials goes up by 10 yuan per kilogram, the cost of the corresponding silicon chip rises by 0.18 yuan each piece, which is equivalent to about 3 cents to 5 cents per watt increase in the component.
The rise in silicon’s raw materials price has already foreshadowed a price adjustment for silicon wafers and polycrystalline cells. On March 15, 2021, the price of silicon wafers rose from 0.12 yuan each piece to 4.56 yuan each piece for 182 millimeter wafers, 0.1 yuan to 3.75 yuan for 166 millimeter wafers and 0.1 yuan to 3.65 yuan for 158 millimeter wafers.
