Cold room powered by photovoltaic energy

Can solar power cold room ? Yes it can. French renewable energy developer Valorem recently launched a fully automated cold room that is 100% powered by photovoltaic energy. The solution includes a 20-foot or 40-foot container equipped with a plug-and-play photovoltaic system installed on the roof. It has 180 mm thick insulation and 10 to 35 cubic metres of storage with shelves.

The function of solar power cold room

In times of crisis such as natural disasters or health crises, the mobile cold room is indicated as ideal for storage solution, especially in remote areas to protect sensitive products like farm products, medical products, and vaccines. Valorem stated that beyond its environmental advantage, it can revitalize the territories while encouraging the local economy and the economic development of rural areas.
In Senegal, two rooms were deployed on fishing docks this year in cooperation with the Ministry of Fisheries of Senegal and the National Agency for Renewable Energies. In Guadeloupe, thanks to funding from the French overseas region and from Ademe, the French environment and energy management agency, a cold room was installed on the island to store fish and seafood.
